Vaccination Snow Job

Frank and Ernest: "It's worse than we thought. That antibiotic resistant bacteria is reading Nietzsche!"

The media blitz over school vaccination requirements is naziesque; and nearly every query into the status of longstanding exemptions to the new "state law requiring all students present updated immunization records" was blocked by images of various institutions' immunization records.

A frantic query of the CA State Health and Safety Code produced the relief I sought. The old exemptions are still there, thank God, and thanks to a slew of conservative lawmakers who, years ago, spilled blood over those exclusions. But listening to the flurry of radio ads everywhere, you'd never know the government hadn't stripped all our rights and seized our bodies in order to force-infuse foreign substances the likes of which NO ONE can certify are safe.

What schools and radio ads will not disclose: (these contents are found at NVIC.ORG)

120365. Immunization of a person shall not be required for
admission to a school or other institution listed in Section 120335
if the parent or guardian or adult who has assumed responsibility for
his or her care and custody in the case of a minor, or the person
seeking admission if an emancipated minor, files with the governing
authority a letter or affidavit stating that the immunization is
contrary to his or her beliefs. However, whenever there is good cause
to believe that the person has been exposed to one of the
communicable diseases listed in subdivision (a) of Section 120325,
that person may be temporarily excluded from the school or
institution until the local health officer is satisfied that the
person is no longer at risk of developing the disease.

120370. If the parent or guardian files with the governing
authority a written statement by a licensed physician to the effect
that the physical condition of the child is such, or medical
circumstances relating to the child are such, that immunization is
not considered safe, indicating the specific nature and probable
duration of the medical condition or circumstances that
contraindicate immunization, that person shall be exempt from the
requirements of Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 120325, but
excluding Section 120380) and Sections 120400, 120405, 120410, and
120415 to the extent indicated by the physician's statement.

In addition to two - -possibly three- - family adverse reactions, another cropped up after teaching preschool age children every Sunday for the better part of twenty years. Emma S, tall, vibrant and articulate, was a little four year old maven who appeared in class one day with that tell-tale bandaid on her arm suggesting Kindergarten shots had recently moved off her Mom's To Do list.

That week, Emma began stuttering.  My only possible response was to pray. I interceded for that little one for months. Not for her speech. That was the least of her worries.  I prayed for her entire neurology. For healing from anything in that noxious cocktail that might produce dyslexia, confusion, personality disorders, or worse. Given my own five year old's Type 1 diabetes back in 1991, I also prayed against anything that might interfere with Emma's little pancreas.  ***

 Her stuttering stopped to everyone's relief, but I began posting (it was always removed), then leafletting the facts about the above exemptions for all the parents of our class.

A few years later, the S family left our church. But I will leaflet away in the next few weeks. It's that awful time again when schools and governments lie to everyone.

***You don't get it? Type1 Diabetes is an AUTOIMMUNE disorder. Something triggers the white blood cells to ATTACK the pancreas until it's ...DEAD.

WayToGo, Stater Brothers

Finding like-minded retailers is like pulling teeth: difficult,  messy, and expensive

A note just submitted to an industry trade magazine/website:

"In a similar move to boost its credibility with more socially aware consumers, Stater Bros. was the local 90808 grocer to respond MOST favorably when asked, a few years ago, to remove from its shelves the Sports Illustrated magazine "sporting" fully topless models on its cover. The worst reception given to concerned parents that year was Vons. As for this writer, the experience led to a permanent change in super market loyalties, i.e., transferred weekly shopping trips to Ralph's/Stater Bros. (a mere $50/year at Vons/Pavs now, excluding gas), going out of my way to reach Staters, the farthest from my home out of seven neighborhood grocery stores. Way to go, Stater Bros. Thank you."

The Stater manager I spoke with didn't just offer to sell the pile of offensive magazines from a spot hidden under his service desk, like Mr. Ralph's did, or look at me like I was a lunatic and refuse to even answer me, like Mr. Von's did. Oh, no-o-o-o-o. "Mr. Stater" told me he'd send the entire shipment BACK to the publisher.  I checked later that week, and it certainly seemed to have disappeared.

That's service with a smile. Mine was ear to ear.

(If only they'd continue the practice with ongoing covers of ill repute: Men's Health, Maxim, Cosmo, et. al...)

PS: I've written to Von's Corporate HQ quite a few times requesting a stance. Still no reply.

Hello, JULY Prophet

(Today's intelligent reading)

James Madison, before becoming the Father of the U.S. Constitution, had a hand in prepping Virginia's official state documents. They were 'preparing for rain*' as they toiled and prayed for separation from Great Britain.  He submitted this in his role as a VA State Delegate:

"Amendment(s) to the Virginia Declaration of Rights
18. That religion, or the duty which we owe to our CREATOR, and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence; and therefore, that all men are equally to enjoy the free exercise of religion, according to the dictates of conscience, unpunished and unrestrained by the magistrate, Unless the preservation of equal liberty and the existence of the State are manifestly endangered; And that it is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity towards each other.
May 29-June 11, 1776" **

So it seems clear that the later penned U.S. Constitution's first amendment was not intended by the "framers" to keep religion out of government. It was penned that government be kept out of religion.

Further, as Madison's Christian forbearance prescribed, women wearing the hijab may be amenable to our religious freedoms, but sharia law most certainly would not be.  Judicial rule, if our judges be of an intelligent and honest stripe, must concur that Islam is antithetical to "the existence of the State and the preservation of equal liberty."

Our founders were not just a Christian people, intending a Christian republic for a Christ-centric future. They were students of world history (to a degree that would stun our typical doctorates), and they knew what tales Islam inspired across the Chronicles of the world's great nations.

I would do well to study again the histories of North Africa, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia...

Happy Fourth of July.

(Christ's Church has lost her salt. I share the fault)

Two Mottos

Hints of Overwhelming Negligence. Indifference Toward Vote Intransigence

Keen Prose&Compost Motto
"One Sock, one drop of negligence; one missed vote, one sick land."
(I never knew how hard
It was to run a household well.
The more my orphan socks collect,
The deeper grows a nation's hell.)

Motto of Caen (Normandy, birthplace of Matilda, mother to Thomas a  Becket)
Un Dieu, un Roy, une Foy, une Loy.
(One God, one King, one Faith, one Law.)

The Dance of Death (This Chant Royal depicts a most complicated form of poetry in Northern France during the 14th century, though not as complex as the sestina, which was more popular in Southern France. [1] The form was often used for stately, or heroic subjects.)

After Holbein
"Contra vim Mortis
Non est medicamen in hortis."

Austin Dobson (January 18, 1840 – September 2, 1921), commonly Austin Dobson, was an English poet and essayist.)
He is the despots' Despot. All must bide,
Later or soon, the message of his might;
Princes and potentates their heads must hide,
Touched by the awful sigil of his right;
Beside the Kaiser he at eve doth wait
And pours a potion in his cup of state;
The stately Queen his bidding must obey;
No keen-eyed Cardinal shall him affray;
And to the Dame that wantoneth he saith--
"Let be, Sweet-heart, to junket and to play."
There is no King more terrible than Death.
The lusty Lord, rejoicing in his pride,
He draweth down; before the armed Knight
With jingling bridle-rein he still doth ride;
He crosseth the strong Captain in the fight;
The Burgher grave he beckons from debate;
He hales the Abbot by his shaven pate,
Nor for the Abbess' wailing will delay;
No bawling Mendicant shall say him nay;
E'en to the pyx the Priest he followeth,
Nor can the Leech* his chilling finger stay . . . [doctor]
There is no King more terrible than Death.
All things must bow to him. And woe betide
The Wine-bibber,--the Roisterer by night;
Him the feast-master, many bouts defied,
Him 'twixt the pledging and the cup shall smite;
Woe to the Lender at usurious rate,
The hard Rich Man, the hireling Advocate;
Woe to the Judge that selleth Law for pay;
Woe to the Thief that like a beast of prey
With creeping tread the traveller harryeth:--
These, in their sin, the sudden sword shall slay . . .
There is no King more terrible than Death.
He hath no pity, -- nor will be denied.
When the low hearth is garnished and bright,
Grimly he flingeth the dim portal wide,
And steals the Infant in the Mother's sight;
He hath no pity for the scorned of fate:--
He spares not Lazarus lying at the gate,
Nay, nor the Blind that stumbleth as he may;
Nay, the tired Ploughman,--at the sinking ray,--
In the last furrow,--feels an icy breath,
And knows a hand hath turned the team astray . . .
There is no King more terrible than Death.
He hath no pity. For the new-made Bride,
Blithe with the promise of her life's delight,
That wanders gladly by her Husband's side,
He with the clatter of his drum doth fright.
He scares the Virgin at the convent grate;
The Maid half-won, the Lover passionate;
He hath no grace for weakness and decay:
The tender Wife, the Widow bent and gray,
The feeble Sire whose footstep faltereth,--
All these he leadeth by the lonely way . . .
There is no King more terrible than Death.
Youth, for whose ear and monishing of late,
I sang of Prodigals and lost estate,
Have thou thy joy of living and be gay;
But know not less that there must come a day,--
Aye, and perchance e'en now it hasteneth,--
When thine own heart shall speak to thee and say,--
There is no King more terrible than Death.

Afraid of Mr. Beachcomber?

There were only two deletions made to yestdy's published letter to the OC Register. One of them seems to point to a good ol' boy rule among publishers to not 'dis each other.  (That 's laudable, but in this case, the decision was also likely borne from a desire to protect their reader - me. I dared to 'dis the editor of a local freebie news rag and lived to tell the tale. But not here...)

The letter was a response to a story lamenting tasteful clothing options available for young girls, but the writer's schtick is a Frumpy Mom personae, demonstrated by her ugly hat and glasses.

Here's the letter entire:

"Editors:

MarlaJo Fisher's treatment, Skimpy Now Stylish (LIFE section, 6/7/11), is an ongoing topic in our home, as witnessed by the attached photo image of the front of our refrigerator.* I only wish you'd chosen a respectable conduit for this important opinion piece/rant.  MarlaJo has thousands of frustrated counterparts out here who actively oppose retailers who flaunt underwear as outerwear (I refuse to wear Playtex, as they were first to break the sex sells sound barrier with bras worn by live models in the 70's), newspapers who advertise for sex/strip clubs (Mr. Beachcomber recently labeled me insane in a most unpleasant encounter), and boycott Victoria's Secret, where I once returned a perfectly wholesome robe, just because I hate their premise that sex is a recreation to be enjoyed by unmarried teens.  So, with all the sobriety that we put into these same lifelong convictions, we obviously cheer Fisher; but her frumpiness comes as a disappointment to those of us who want to be taken seriously.  While I love her writing and tenor, I hate that stupid hat.

ED

PS
Thank you for refusing the Strip Club advertisers, but what's with your ads for 'exotic ecstasy with young asian girl' massage parlors?"

Maybe the good editors at the Register did not want to "out" Mr. Beachcomber as the meanyhead he was during my visit to his offices.

Implicit in the removal of my "PS," however, is an unwillingness to own up to their own complicity in the sex industry.

How else will old-school newspapers stay afloat?
